With a heritage that has its roots in the Austria of the 1700s, the Schickedanz family emigrated to Canada in the early 1950s. Like so many of the European families that are responsible for building much of the GTA's apartment communities, the four Schickedanz brothers founded a business solidly immersed in tradition and family ties.
What began as a family endeavour quickly evolved into a strong corporate team with a commitment to the basic values and beliefs of its founders. From it's original roots in Toronto, Schickedanz has expanded to encompass markets in Calgary, Alberta and Tampa Bay and Palm Beach, Florida.
An uncompromising commitment to quality, honesty and integrity - Schickedanz exhibits these precepts in every undertaking from residential communities to corporate centers and long-term care facilities. Today, while residential construction continues to be the backbone of the business, Schickedanz has developed industrial parks, office buildings and shopping malls. In addition, it has built, owns and manages over 1,000 residential apartments as well as several commercial shopping centres.
The success Schickedanz has achieved is derived from the close relationship of the four brothers. Working together in a totally collaborative process surrounded by a team of top professionals, they maintain a hands-on involvement with the day-to-day operations of each site.
